THE RETURN OF……
VINYL F-ING SUNDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Thank The Lord)
Jack White - Live At Third Man Records (with the Buzzards & the Peacocks)
Another unbelievably amazing release from TMR through vault package 14, double LP split coloured Black & Blue Vinyl with lithographic cover art, which changes Jack poses depending on which angle you view it from. The package also included a blue swirly 7” of Jack demos from Blunderbuss and a beautiful Photobook ‘Shark Infested Soda Fountain’ put together by the wonderful Alison Mosshart of the past Dead Weather Tour.
These vault packages get better and better, i just hope i dont run out of money!
In the future you guys can look forward to…
VINYL SUNDAY!!
The Black Belles - The Black Belles
Ordered this from the beautiful people at Third Man Records, when they had it as Record of the week, when i first heard of the Black Belles and saw them on the TMR Youtube I sort of assumed like everyone that they were a product of the Jack White Imagination, but as soon as I actually heard them and realised how great of a songwriter Olivia Jean is I just had to get this record and I adore it! Side A especially is absolutely killer!! and Oh My Ruby Rogers is so pretty haha, and awesome on bass. Anyone who loves Halloween Garagepunk needs this record!

Also on the way to me are
Vinyl Sunday!!
The White Stripes - Vault Package 13 - Live at the Gold Dollar 1997
So for you unlucky folks that have no idea what a vault package is, when you sign up as a platinum member for Third Man Records each quarter they have a three piece package they send out to platinum members, Normally it’s an LP a 7 inch and something else unique, these items aren’t for sale anywhere and are only available through the TMR vault, its quite good value around $60 a quarter i think, a little more for me cause Nashville is across the world from Australia. But seriously its such great stuff!
I love the sound of this early early White Stripes, raw as raw, these early versions of songs are just amazing Screwdriver rocks as hard as ever and you can hear the development its undertaken through the years. Also the packaging is amazing, i’m a sucker for coloured vinyl and this is perfect! Also Awesome record bag although i don’t know what to do with it, maybe if i meet somebody who likes the stripes they’ll get it.
Can’t wait for Vault 14 hope it comes before christmas!!
VINYL SUNDAY RETURNS!
Public Nuisance - Gotta Survive
Had to order this one, a reissue on Third Man Records, recorded in 1968-69 and never officially released until now. This record epitomises Psychedelic Garage Pop-Rock at its best, apparently not released originally due to fear after the Manson Family Murders, even sporting the lyrics ‘Charlie doesn’t know what he’s doing’ Gotta Survive is somewhat a period piece, but it still rocks today.
NOTE: When I first played this record it was skipping a whole lot for no reason, I emailed Third Man and they quickly sent me another copy after I told them what was happening, they were very helpful and replied pretty much straight away or the next day. Go Third Man!
I’m still waiting for so much stuff from TMR though, the negatives of living in Australia perhaps, totally moving to Nashville asap.
See you guys soon, Vinyl Sunday is sticking around, so much coming in the following weeks!

p.s. yes thats a blunderbuss slipmat ;)
VINYL SUNDAY! FINALLY!!
This just came guys :) and am super excited. Gotta be one of the best, most exciting, and horny albums of this year!
David Byrne & St Vincent - Love This Giant
I’m addicted to it already. The first track ‘Who’ is just the catchiest thing ever, and I also love the video. Ive always loved brass and the sound of horns but this record just takes that to extremes, to the point where you can barely tell there is guitar on some songs, and its awesome!
I knew that being a huge fan of both David and Annie’s earlier would make this collaboration something special, intertwining both their unique songwriting styles, and oh yeah the brass! haha. I think one thing I especially love about this record is the layers of harmony, between David and Annie, between David and David, between the Brass, just everything is very beautiful, but at the same time it certainly calls for a few Dance Jam’s as well.
I shall be seeing these beautiful people in melbourne in january and can’t wait!
See you soon for more vinyl sundays!!!

VINYL SUNDAY!! XD (vinyl sunday actually on a sunday you must be kidd….SHUT UP DENNIS!)
The Best Album In Existence!
Excitable Boy - Warren Zevon
There are no bad songs on this record. There aren’t any plain good ones either, every single track is a fucking masterpiece (pardon me but it had to be said!)
YOU the good people of tumblr, if you don’t own this record, buy it already! wtf are you doing with your life? on second thoughts don’t buy it, it would get to mainstream then errk #sarcasm
Warren Zevon you genius of a man, I love you to bits! I never realised this before but Mick Fleetwood and John McVie from Fleetwood Mac actually played on Werewolves of London, which makes it even more amazing, but seriously name any song on this record and you could say its amazing.
p.s. I bought this thing for $4 i mean seriously!!! i felt like a thief! $4! and the sound quality is amazing, especially compared to my shitty mp3 version, its mindblowing.
don’t talk or think, go buy this now…now….why are you still here?
……i’m serious wtf!
—Mitch
p.p.s. this post is dedicated to mr swordfish-trombones, a fellow Zevon lover.
Vinyl Sunday Take 2!!!
The Raconteurs - Broken Boy Soldiers
these mofos are on my list to see live too (i’m seeing one of them in 3 days ;) the one that plays guitar, that’s not Brendan Benson, what’s his name again?)
apparently Jacky has been playing Steady As She Goes on his solo tour lately, so i can’t wait til wednesday hope he plays that along with Top Yourself, fucking Blue Veins would bring the house down, but perhaps we can only dream about that, perhaps i’ll post about the show next week, hopefully showing off some merch, preferably of the ‘tangible’ kind, and of course i’ll tell you if my dreams come true.
anyways more about this fab record, i actually got into the Racs through their second album first (is that confusing?) (i still need that on vinyl!) but when i picked this up recently i was pleasantly surprised thats its just as, if not more fucking epic. what else is there to say? oh right..
…lemme add one more pic, just got this not long ago too, The Saboteurs Live, cause i live in that silly country where they change their name, oh well :)
see ya’s soon
—Mitch
ACTUALLY VINYL SUNDAYYYY!!!!
Dirty Three - Horse Stories
one of my life long dreams is to see Dirty Three live! there’s something so fucking adrenalizing (it is a word! i made it up!) about that music. and this has to be one of my fav records of theirs. i always love their artwork too, its beautiful as always, and so is the music. if you don’t know who the hell Dirty Three is, step one go to a record store, step two buy any Dirty Three record, step three proceed to thank me for suggesting this. :)

VINYL SUNDAY THURSDAY!!
Fleetwood Mac seem to be one of the bands of the moment considering the new tribute album about to be released Just Tell Me That You Want Me, featuring among others The Kills, Karen Elson, St Vincent, Tame Impala & MGMT. I cant wait to hear this album, the producers have obviously chosen wisely the artists. Here you can hear The Kills awesome cover of ‘Dreams’.
Then Play On - Fleetwood Mac (1969)
Danny Kirwan’s first album with the band, and the first album not to feature any material from Jeremy Spencer, who had produced around a third of the songs on the two previous Mac albums, shared with Peter Green and blues covers of course. This album is of course best known for Greens song ‘Oh Well’. Another great track is Kirwans ‘Like Crying’ featuring great guitar dueting between he and Green.
And of course sadly, this is the last Mac album Peter Green appeared on after he quit the band, to pursue a solo career.
I have to say I havent listened to this one nearly as much as Mr Wonderful or their debut record because its a lot less of the blues influence, assumed brought in by Spencer, there for you dont know what to expect from it, its amazing considering Fleetwood Mac had only been a band for 2 years at this point and their style had developed so much. Needless to say this is still a great record, and it certainly shows off some great guitar work.
Thought i may as well chuck in a picture from the period, to show off the lads beautiful faces.
—Mitch
*correction* ‘Oh Well’ didn’t actually appear on this album, it was released as a double sided single two months after this album was released.
